The Maysaa Magazine Shoot

Issue 2

As soon as I saw Dominic Clarke’s work (above), I knew I wanted to work with him.  There is a rawness in his work that goes beyond what’s just a photograph, it’s like a living thing.  I don’t know how it happens, but I count my blessings that on every shoot we’ve done so far we’ve worked with amazing people.

Hair and make-up by the wonderful Justina, she’s so great to have on a shoot.  And then our beautiful models doing justice to the clothes.  I never really know what to expect, I guess that’s why I plan right up until the last minute just so I’m not thinking about it on the day, then I just watch it come alive. *smiles*

The Independent also joined us for the morning, I really couldn’t have asked for anything more.  The article was beautifully written, and finally provided my parents with something they could hold in their hands.

Here’s a link to the magazine just in case. x

Bandage Waistband Jersey Maxi Skirt

Start at the start

I’m obsessed with the unseen details, the thing that any other person might miss, but that you know is there.  The waistband detail is one such thing.  The flatness of the seams allow it to gently support your waist without bits of elastic grabbing at you.  The intricate bandage detailing can be a statement in texture, or hidden away under an oversized tee.  Unrevealed but giving a silent confidence, in the same way exquisite lingerie can make you walk a little taller.

Then there was the search for fabric, not sheer, not heavy, and deliciously soft.  It’s one of my favourite pieces to wear, I have a couple that I wear on rotation.  Most recently I folded down the top and wore it on the hips, the waistband is double faced you see, a wonderful detail I’ll admit I hadn’t intentionally included.  I’m getting to think my subconscious is far brighter than I am.

It’s one of those wardrobe essentials, which is what this first collection was all about, those indispensable clothes that are always there to make you feel beautiful.  You can check it out in store now.

Limited Edition

Coming Soon…

Bonjour, Salut et Hello.  Pardon my Français, mais I’ve just come back from fabric selection in Paris.  Which, incidentally, has got me thinking about exciting things for Maysaa.

The Limited Edition collection, is something rather special and close to my heart.  I know I’ve been a tease with showing photos, but they shall be available to buy early 2011 (it’s not so long, right?).  I just couldn’t not show you these beautiful shots.  For now, you can check out more of the genius photography by Dominic Clarke in the Maysaa Magazine editorial.

Hmm, so what’s to come on the Maysaa blog?  Is it wrong to say I’m still undecided?  All I can predict are flights of fancy, sketches and the like.  You’ll get to know of what’s behind the designs, and bien sur the serious and important news that is fashion!
